International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO)

Home / IJSO

The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is a competitive examination open to students of all countries in the world, primarily studying in secondary schools. All the subjects of Science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) are given equal weightage in the IJSO examination. The competition is known for its intricacy as it requires a wide knowledge range in all three sciences. Top students from each country are selected to the competition and each get a chance to compete with their counterparts from across the globe. Students of Std.9th onwards can take part.

The Junior Science Olympiad program will follow the following 5 stages:

Stage I: National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS):

It is the organized by Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT). NSEJS exam is based on objective type questions and are offered in English and Hindi. The syllabus is broadly equivalent to up to Class X of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It has Age limit which is changed every year, students of class 8th, 9th, and a few of class 10th in age limit can appear for this examination.

Allen's NSEJS Workshop

As we know IJSO is Olympic of Olympiads, so we train and prepare students to be the best in all subjects. ALLEN conducts this workshop in many cities of India covering major parts of the Nation. We prepare them for all subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Stage II: Indian National Junior Science Olympiad (INJSO)

The best-performing students from the NSEJS (approximately 300 Nationwide) qualify for the second stage - the Indian National Jr. Science Olympiad (INJSO), conducted by HBCSE. The INJSO is held in late January at around 18 centers across the country. The syllabus is same as that of the NSEJS. The tests consist of objective as well as long questions.

Allen's INJSO Workshop

Only students who are qualified in NSEJS are eligible for this workshop, we provide them an intense training and practice in all subjects to maximum level. We conduct a series of Well-designed Mock test especially for INJSO to compete with best students of the Nation. We prepare them for all subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. This is a residential workshop; all students qualified in NSEJS are gathered at Kota for preparation of this Workshop by Expert Faculties.

Stage III: Orientation cum Selection Camp (OCSC) in junior science

The top 35 students from the INJSO are selected for Orientation-cum-Selection Camp held at HBCSE. At these camps orientation is provided to students for Olympiad level of theoretical and experimental tasks. Emphasis is laid on developing conceptual foundations and problem-solving skills. Students are exposed to innovative experiments with focus on conceptual and procedural understanding in experimental science.

Allen's BOOT Camp (OCSC Workshop) :

We conduct residential workshop at Kota for this and our Subject Experts provide rigorous training to students qualified in INJSO for OCSC and prepare them for theoretical and Practical tasks. We have well designed Laboratories to prepare students for the practical trainings of each subject

Stage IV: Pre-departure Training Camp (PDT) for IJSO.

The selected Indian teams undergo a rigorous training programme at HBCSE in theory and experiment and in case of Science prior to their departure for the International Olympiad. Special laboratories have been developed in HBCSE for this purpose. Resource persons from different institutions across the country are invited to the training camps.

Stage V: Participation in International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).

Participation in International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
The Olympiad programme culminates with the participation of the 6 Indian students in this Olympiad. The students are accompanied by 2-4 teachers or mentors.

The 6 special merit awardees in Junior Science selected at the end of the OCSC constitute the 6 member student team for the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) which represents INDIA at the International Level. Top students from 40-45 countries (approximately) take part in the final level.
